Future
Leaders Day '07
The
Fort Knox Scouting Community will hold it's 6th Annual Future Leader's
Day (FLD07) at Fort Knox during the weekend of 4
AUG 07. As is tradition, this is a FREE
EVENT
which is OPEN TO ALL YOUTH,
everywhere.
Thats
right, you read it correctly, this is a FREE
EVENT. There is no registration fee, admission fee,
guilting you into making a donation, nothing. The only fees we forsee
would be for Scout units that are CAMPING
or for patches. There are other events planned during
the weekend, 3-5 AUG 07,
which
may have a cost associated with them, but they are through the agencies
that are offering them (bowling, pool, etc.) All we ask, is that
if you are a Pack, Troop, Post or Crew, that you help us out by
bringing an activity / event / display / demonstration / exibition
for that Saturday, 4 AUG 07.
This
event is sponsored by the Boy, Cub, and Girl Scouts of the Fort
Knox Scouting Community, and is open to ALL Youth
of all ages and their Families, they are the focus of this event,
since they are the future leaders of the nation. This event will
afford afford ALL Youth an opportunity to try new things, learn
something, and have FUN and will afford Scouts the opportunity to
complete work toward badges, pins, and achievements.
The nature of the event
is similar to that of an interactive fair, during which there are
activities, exhibits, and booths for our Future Leaders. These events
are open to ALL
youth (not just scouts) and their families. We plan this year to
reach a much broader visitor base than just the surrounding areas.
As the event is scheduled for the first weekend after school starts,
your scouts should be back, and it is also an excellent opportunity
for new residents of Kentucky, to find out what the Community has
to offer. As an attraction to scouting units, we also hope to draw
boys, girls and their families from other locations in Kentucky,
as well as surrounding states.
**NEW**
We are planning on offereing the Fingerprinting
Merit Badge and a partial of the Astronomy Merit Badge at FLD07
***NEW***
Bring your
youth group, club, or team out! If you have Scouts, we would Especially
like for your Pack, Crew, or Troop to come out and have fun with
us, and whether a Girl Scout, Venturer, Cub Scout, or Boy Scout
an Event Patch will be available.
Click here to see or purchase one of the previous years
patches.
. You can download a REGISTRATION
form HERE
and mail it in to us along with your payment.
(You'll need the Adobe Reader installed on your computer,
you can get it here)
or you can REGISTER
ONLINE (feature
is now working)and send us the payment seperately,
use PayPal, or charge it (we can take credit card payments through
either payal, or call us to run your credit card).
We'd like to coordinate
with Scout units, and Community organizations to also provide information
/ education booths or Scout related / achievement producing booths.
We won't be able to offer many GREAT SCOUT
booths if we don't get units to sign up to RUN
them!!! Scout achievement producing / activity booths can be offered
by ANY scouting units. These booths will offer
an activity corresponding with a task or requirement for a particular
level and branch of scouting (i.e. a booth for Tiger Cub Scouts
that teaches what to do if lost, to earn an orange bead, or a Cub
Scout booth to earn the Art Beltloop). It might address a part of
the requirements for an overall badge,
patch, or IPA. You can download an Adobe PDF
version of some of these requirements HERE.
We'd also like to have an area for the Order of the Arrow (last
year the local chapter provided their Native American Dance team
as an event - the scouts LOVED it!!). All children participating
in events should receive a slip of paper stating that they have
qualified at the booth. The idea behind this is that:
- Girl, Boy, and Cub
Scouts could take this document to their pack or troop to be honored.
- If a child is not
a scout, but joins scouting that day, they may take this document
to their pack or troop to be honored.

is an opportune time to use this venue to raise awareness, and explain
to the world what services are provided by their organization.
If you are Planning to bring FRS radios to keep in touch with your
scouts, please check our COMMO CARD
for frequencies to use. We ask day visitors & campers to use
one of the assigned frequencies, to keep the operations & SIMEX
frequencies open.
For those planning
to camp - check out this page!
If entering the Post with a lot of equipment, or big trucks/campers/vans,
expect to be searched, and don't be concerned. This is a standard
procedure and precaution, and as long as you arent a terrorist,
you should be OK right? You
will, however, need to enter through the Brandenburg
Road Gate, or the Wilson
Road Gate, or the Gate Guards will turn you
around and direct you to those gates (they have better search facilities).
For more information about Ft Knox, you can download or read online
the visitors guide (click
here, or on the link above, left side of the
page, that says visit Ft Knox).
We know that your organization understands that the Cub, Boy,
and Girl Scouts of America instill values and ideals, which are
congruent to the values and ideals which are needed by, and essential
to becoming productive, effective future leaders in our communities.
We sincerely hope that you will assist us in this endeavor to further
develop our "Future Leaders" by attending, and hopefully
providing an interesting event/display/exhibition for the Scouts,
as well as providing a weekend of fun for all of the youth and in
attendance. For further information we can be contacted at operations@knoxscouting.com,
or 270-268-2165.
